Hill International (HINT) announced that it has been awarded a contract by Central Plaza LLC to provide project management services during design and construction of the $90M Sakenela mixed-use development in Tbilisi, Georgia in Eastern Europe. Hill International operates 70 offices worldwide and is headquartered in Marlton, New Jersey. The company provides program management, project management, construction management, development management and construction claims services.
Sakanela is a Class A mixed-use development comprising 311 residential apartments and 120,000 square meters (1,120,000 square feet) of commercial space. The project is located in the center of Tbilisi, between Rose Revolution Square and the Mtkvari River. Construction is expected to begin in August 2008 and be completed by August 2010.
The company also announced that Michael B. Smith, formerly a vice president with Hill International’s project management group, was promoted to Senior Vice President in charge of Hill’s offices in Irvine, California and Phoenix, Arizona. Smith brings 27 years of experience to the position in project management for transportation and building projects. He possesses a strong background in project controls, project planning, cost control, estimating, scheduling, forecasting, and claims management on both public- and private-sector projects.
