One company whose star is certainly shining bright is TransAtlantic Petroleum. A vertically integrated international energy company, TransAtlantic is engaged in the acquisition, development, exploration, and production of crude oil and natural gas. In this very competitive industry, TransAtlantic has quickly developed a global presence with gas properties in Turkey, Morocco, Romania, and California.
Today, TransAtlantic took a major step towards catching the eyes (and investment dollars) of institutional investors with the announcement that the young company will begin trading on the NYSE Amex under the ticker symbol “TAT”. Prior to this announcement, TransAtlantic traded their common shares on the OTC Bulletin Board under the symbol “TATPF”.
Leading the way at TransAtlantic is their CEO Matt McCann. McCann is a renowned name in the industry and carries an impressive resume. Prior to being nominated as CEO in 2008, he served as Vice President, Legal & Corporate Secretary for SandRidge Energy (NYSE: SD) from 2005-2007. McCann also served as General Counsel for Riata Energy from 2001-2005 and represented Riata while practicing law with Sprouse, Smith & Rowley, P.C. from 1995-2001.
When asked about TransAtlantic’s move to the NYSE Amex, McCann was quoted as saying, “We are pleased to move onto the NYSE Amex, where we believe our investors will enjoy greater liquidity. The Company will continue to trade its common shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange as well.”
The NYSE Amex is noted for showcasing an array of leading energy companies to their investors. Many savvy Wall Street type are curious what the addition of TransAtlantic will have on the NYSE Amex.
