La Cortez Energy, Inc. issued an operational recap on the company’s oil and gas activities in South America, where it is exploring and developing several areas in Colombia.
La Cortez Energy, Inc. is participating in the Mirto-2 well being drilled by Emerald Energy PLC, its partner on the well. The company has previously detected oil and gas shows in the Villeta N and Viletta U sands at depths of approximately 10,000 to 11,000 feet
The Mirto-2 well produced an average of twenty-nine barrels of oil per day from the Viletta U sands. The company considers this production to be below expectations and not consistent with production from the Mirto-1 well.
La Cortez Energy, Inc. said that the company would examine well logs and core samples and conduct further analysis to determine the potential of the Mirto-2 well. La Cortez Energy, Inc. has also decided to postpone drilling of the Agapanto-1 well, which is the next well scheduled in the company’s drilling program in the area.
La Cortez Energy, Inc. has interests in the Maranta block located in the Putumayo Basin in Colombia.
