iCAD, Inc (ICAD) Granted New CAD Patent

iCAD, Inc., an industry-leading provider of Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) solutions that enable healthcare professionals to better serve patients, announced that it was awarded a New CAD Patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The Company’s CAD systems can improve cancer detection by applying technology that integrates information from multiple mammography images and information from prior exams.

Ken Ferry, President and Chief Executive Officer of iCAD, said, “We are continuously working to enhance our CAD offerings, including the development of technologies that will further improve CAD performance for radiologist. It is a strategic priority to expand our portfolio of patents that protect our intellectual property and the innovation that powers iCAD products in the detection of cancer, and we are delighted to be granted this new patent.”

iCAD was granted four patents in 2007. Included in the 2007 patents was one related to CAD for virtual colonoscopy. The Company now has a total of 24 granted patents and 21 patents pending worldwide.

iCAD is developing CAD solutions for use with virtual colonoscopy to improve the detection of colonic polyps. The Company offers high-performance CAD solutions for both digital and film-based mammography systems as well. Its systems are based on sophisticated algorithms that analyze the data, automatically identifying and marking suspicious regions in the images, resulting in early detection of cancers that are normally hard to find.
