Finisar Corp. (FNSR) offers Hands-on Training for Booming Optical Communications Market

Finisar Corp. (Nasdaq: FNSR) designs, develops, manufactures and markets optical subsystems and related technologies for high-speed data centers around the world. The company today announced a new training course to provide knowledge of the emerging Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) technology. Finisar’s Medusa Labs will teach the networking protocol, highlighting the latest advancements in FCoE architecture and instrumentation.

Finisar is the first company to offer both training courses and analysis tools based on the FCoE standard. Students will get hands-on training, as well as experience analyzing Fibre Channel traces with Finisar’s 10Gpbs Xgig analyzer.

The company is addressing the growing number of data centers using the FCoE protocol, increasing the number of storage professionals who will require knowledge and training of the system.

“Because today’s storage environments are increasingly complex, network professionals must be proficient in a variety of storage protocols,” Dave Buse, general manager of Network Tools at Finisar stated in the press release. “As the industry’s foremost authority on Fibre Channel and SAN training and education, Finisar’s Medusa Labs has the expertise and resources to provide unparalleled, in-depth instruction on FCoE.”

As Internet video, high-definition TV, Voice-over-Internet (VoIP), and enterprise data experience phenomenal growth in light of new advancements, optical component providers compete in a competitive market based on optical communications for network equipment vendors, instruments and software for communications designers and products and services for large enterprise storage networks.
