Capstone Turbine Corp. (CPST) Announces Early Shipment of C200 MicroTurbine

Capstone Turbine Corporation (Nasdaq: CPST), the world’s leading producer of low-emission microturbine systems, announced it will ship its first C200 production unit to Integrated Building Technologies (IBT). Though the shipment was originally scheduled for late September, Capstone was able to ship the unit early, through S.L.R., the company’s distributor in Italy.

The company’s microturbines are used in stationary distributed power generation applications and as generators for hybrid electric vehicle applications. The C200 production unit will be installed in a wastewater treatment facility in Biella, Italy, and will operate on methane gas generated from the digesters at the facility.

In a press release, the company said interest in its C200 product is strong, illustrated by an order backlog at the end of last quarter, resulting in an increase in the production of C200 systems.

“Reflective of our commitment to continuously develop and build high quality products, we were very pleased at how the first C200 unit came together and successfully passed the manufacturing acceptance test procedure,” said Mark Gilbreth, executive vice president and chief technology officer of Capstone stated. “The second production C200 is scheduled for shipment to UTC Power Corporation for integration with their Carrier double effect absorption chiller.”
