This week American Technology Corporation announced that the much anticipated delivery of its LRAD 1000X will take place this quarter. The company, which won the multi-year contract on October 2nd of 2007, will equip and maintain all large vessels in the Navy’s fleet with the LRAD 1000X acoustic hailing and warning device. In addition, ATC has already been awarded a contract for its LRAD 500 product by the Navy for use on small vessels and vehicles.
American Technology created the directed acoustic hailing and warning device market category with its proprietary LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device) technology and products. LRAD uses high intensity 15 degrees – 30 degrees focused acoustic output to communicate well in excess of 500 meters with authority and high intelligibility. Through the use of powerful voice commands and deterrent tones, large safety zones can be created around vessels while determining the intent, influencing the behavior and gaining the compliance of a target. LRADs are currently deployed in a variety of government, military and commercial security installations around the world.
The initial $500,000+ order of LRAD 1000X units will be shipped to the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Virginia. This order comes on the heels of the December 19th announcement that ATC received a $1.1 million LRAD-R product order for a critical infrastructure project in the United Arab Emirates, which is also scheduled to being shipping this quarter. These orders are coming off of the Company’s second highest total year for total revenues of $9.9 million, nearly $1 million more than the fiscal year 2006.
American Technology Corporation is shaping the Future of Sound® by providing directed audio solutions that place clear, highly intelligible sound exactly where needed. ATC’s Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD), HyperSonic Sound, and NeoPlanar product lines make up the core of an expanding portfolio of directed sound products and technologies.
