A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. is the largest provider of distributed power generation systems in China. The company is also expanding into the production of alternative power generation systems. Focusing on energy-efficient and environmentally friendly projects of 25 to 400 megawatts, A-Power operates one of the largest wind turbine manufacturing facilities in China.
In March 2009, the company entered into an agreement to establish a joint venture partnership with GE Drivetrain Technologies to produce wind turbine gearboxes in Shenyang. A-Power earlier this year also acquired Evatech, a designer and manufacturer of industrial equipment for amorphous-silicon (a-Si) photovoltaic panels.
A-Power announced today that it has retained ICR to develop and execute its investor relations strategy while assisting management with shareholder communications. ICR is a leading financial communications consulting firm that provides counsel from vertically focused senior-level professionals. The firm represents approximately 250 corporate clients worldwide, including about 30 clients based in China.
The company believes that ICR’s extensive knowledge of the capital markets as well as familiarity with China will benefit the company as it tries to extend its outreach to the investment community. ICR sees a bright future for A-Power. The co-heads of ICR’s Asia business, Ashley Ammon and Bill Zima, said, “We believe that the company should benefit from the market opportunities associated with China’s energy consumption growth, government support and China’s fast-growing wind market.”
