Velti Plc (VELT) Partners with Virgin Unite to Launch Mobile Donation Platform for the Nelson Mandela Appeal

Leading global mobile marketing and advertising technology provider Velti has partnered with Virgin Unite, the nonprofit foundation of the Virgin Group, to launch mobile messaging donations for the Nelson Mandela Appeal. This marks a milestone for the nonprofit foundation, as this is the first year it has offered powered donations through the mobile platform.

In memory of Nelson Mandela’s extraordinary life and values, Virgin Unite is supporting South Africa’s Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory. Throughout the world, July 18 is known as Mandela Day, celebrating Mandela and his indefatigable struggle for human dignity and his lifelong pursuit of the greater good (www.mandeladay.com).

A text campaign has been set up by Velti and Virgin Unite allowing the public to donate through their mobile phones. Additionally, Virgin Group Founder and Chairman Richard Branson has been promoting the campaign through social media, encouraging friends and staff members worldwide to participate.

All donations made through text messaging and the www.virginmoneygiving.com/nelsonmandela Web site will go directly to the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory at the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Created by Mandela in 2004, the facility focuses on three work areas: “The Life and Times of Nelson Mandela,” “Dialogue for Social Justice” and “Nelson Mandela International Day.”

Those desiring to make a donation can do so by texting MANDELA to 70107 for a GBP5 donation. The donation will be given in full to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Donations can also be made online at www.virginmoneygiving.com/nelsonmandela.
