With over 275 offices worldwide and approximately 8,500 employees, Tetra Tech Inc. is a leading provider of consulting, engineering, and technical services. Founded in 1966, and listed on the NASDAQ, the company operates in three segments: Resource Management, Infrastructure Services, and Communications Services. Their corporate mission is to be the premier global consulting and engineering firm.
Headquartered in Pasadena, California, Tetra Tech began as a provider of engineering services related to waterways, harbors, and coastal areas. Today, they offer expanded services and their fiscal year 2007 revenues were $1.55 billion. Overall, the company provides environmental water/wastewater management, infrastructure services, communications support, systems support, security design, and outsourced technical services.
Their Resource Management division focuses on the management of water resources. They help support government programs for water quality improvement and environmental restoration. They also support the productive reuse of defense facilities as well as engage in strategic environmental resource planning. They offer their expertise to projects focusing on surface water, groundwater, waste management, project management, and regulatory compliance.
Tetra Tech’s Communications Services division began in 1997. It offers technical solutions for the designing and building of communications infrastructure projects. The services they provide include permitting, site acquisition, engineering, and construction management. They work with local and state governments and local, state, and federal government agencies. Their customers also include commercial and international clients, cable operators, and telecommunications firms.
The company’s Infrastructure Services segment started in 1995. It engages in developing water infrastructure, transportation, and systems and security projects. This segment also develops institutional, commercial, recreational, and leisure facilities.
Tetra Tech Inc. recently garnered a contract to design, build, and operate remedial systems in preparation for development of 168 acres of property. This property will consist of over one million square feet of retail space, more than 1,300 residential units, and 300 hotel rooms. They also secured a $150 million contract from utility PacifiCorp to install three wind energy projects in Wyoming. Work on the three projects will begin immediately and the company expects that they will complete the work by this December. This is in line with the company’s plans for growth in the alternative energy sector as 2007 saw Tetra Tech expand their alternative energy capabilities.
Tetra Tech continues to strengthen their position in the consulting and engineering field. They announced last week that Sam Box, President, and Jorge Casado, Director of Investor Relations, will give a presentation to investors at the Seventh Annual D.A. Davidson Engineering & Construction Conference in San Francisco, California on Thursday, September 18, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time. They are working hard to realize their corporate commitment to being the go-to company worldwide for engineering, consulting, and technical services.
