Google has yet to confirm that the company will be manufacturing a mobile handset that is widely referred to as the Gphone. However, Google has discussed that the company will be providing a mobile phone software kit to leading tech developers next week. Google hopes that providing such a software platform to developers will allow the company to utilize their applications on future wireless devices.
“If you were to build a Gphone, this is the platform you would build it out of,” said Google’s mobile unit chief Andy Rubin on the call.
Andy Rubin’s comment opened a floodgate of varying reactions. If Google was to develop the Gphone in the future, the phone would be easy to develop and already have support from leading tech developers.
Google shares rose over 2.0% during Monday’s trading hours. An above average 8,885,626 shares exchanged hands, whereas the daily average is approximately 5,000,00 shares.
