Reliv International Inc. (RELV) Supplementing Diets

Reliv International Inc. (RELV), based in Chesterfield, Missouri, is a developer, manufacturer, and marketer of a proprietary line of nutritional supplements. With a current market capitalization of $78.42M, they are a NASDAQ-traded company. The company’s products address basic daily nutrition needs as well as more specific wellness needs. Their products also address weight management and sports nutrition needs.

Relìv International founders are Robert and Sandy Montgomery, who had a vision to create a business that would give people control over their own lives while offering quality products into the nutritional supplement marketplace. Through Robert Montgomery’s friendship with microbiologist Dr. Theodore Kalogris, the developing and marketing of the company’s first product began. Dr. Kalogris had developed a unique formula that provided a full day’s nutrition in a form that was easy-to-use and quickly absorbed by the body. Robert Montgomery was impressed with the health results he personally achieved with the product and decided it was a core product on which to build a business. This product, Relìv Classic®, is the result of the friendship and led to the formation of the company in 1988.

The company’s basic nutritional supplements are Reliv Classic, Reliv NOW, and NOW for Kids. The company’s specific wellness supplements include ReversAge; SoySentials; CardioSentials, a berry-flavored nutritional supplement that promotes heart health; Arthaffect, which supports healthy joint function; and FibRestore, which contains fiber, vitamins, minerals, and herbs. Reliv International’s weight management supplements include Reliv Ultrim-Plus, Cellebrate, and their Slimplicity Weight Loss System. Their sports nutrition supplements include ProVantage and Innergize. Reliv also sells skin care products such as body renewal lotion, daily skin defense, eye renewal cream, and rich cleansing bars.

On August 15, Reliv International Inc. announced the launch of an automatic shipment program designed to increase customer retention and help their army of distributors build stronger businesses. The new Direct Advantage Autoship Program is to ensure their customers receive their products on a regular monthly basis. The program’s intent is to reduce significantly the time distributors spend on order fulfillment. This past weekend Reliv International, Inc. celebrated their 20th anniversary at their annual international conference in St. Louis. The conference theme was “Cheers to 20 Years,” and more than 4,300 Reliv distributors from nine countries participated.

Reliv International Inc. sells their products in the United States, Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. Their corporate strategy is to expand their product program and international markets. They have five nutritional patents with others in the application stage. Reliv continues to innovate with new products that they can deliver through their distribution network for greater customer, company, and shareholder value.
