Puget Technologies, Inc. (PUGE) Acquires B-29 Energy

Puget Technologies recently announced that it had completed the acquisition of B-29 Energy, Inc., an energy supplement manufacturer. Materials supplied by Puget show a sales growth in energy drinks, up 60% between 2008 and 2012, with the market worth $15.5 billion in 2012.

Based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Puget is focused on marketing, developing, and acquiring what it refers to as “leading edge consumer oriented products ready for rapid commercialization,” with its latest acquisition centered around the energy drink and shot market. According to Medill Reports Chicago, the overall soda market is sluggish, but companies such as Monster Beverage Company, Red Bull, and Rockstar have increased sales 19.1 percent, 17 percent, and 8 percent, respectively.

B-29’s current offerings are two flavors of carbonated energy beverages, as well as a two-ounce energy shot. The company boasts that the drinks contain a number of vitamins and minerals that increase energy, as well as “epimedium, a centuries-old traditional Chinese remedy believed to be a natural aphrodisiac.”

President and CEO of Puget Technologies, Ron Leyland, said, “Although energy drinks are an extremely competitive product category, the industry is still in its early stages with robust potential for expansion. We are confident that with product innovation we will be able to capture a healthy market share within a short time.”
