OpenTV Corp. (NASDAQ:OPTV) provides digital television solutions worldwide, creating and delivering interactive digital content experiences to its consumers. The company recently announced the launch of AUSTAR PVR, called MyStar, which will allow viewers to access PVR functionality through terrestrial and satellite subscription television services through one box.
MyStar is a quad tuner set-top box featuring two satellite tuners and two terrestrial tuners, making it the “first-of-its kind” integrated PVR service for AUSTAR subscribers. The company’s Core2 and PVR2 technologies create the interfaces needed to seamlessly combine satellite and terrestrial signals, allowing viewers to switch between satellite and terrestrial signals.
“OpenTV and its PVR technology are making this first of its kind launch possible,” John Porter, CEO of AUSTAR, stated in the press release. “MyStar revolutionizes the television experience of our customers, with the four tuners enabling them to enjoy all of their local channels directly alongside their AUSTAR channels for the first time.”
OpenTV’s software is used in more than 100 million digital set-top boxes and televisions around the world. AUSTAR provides subscription television services in Australia, reaching more than 660,000 customers through its television, Internet and mobile telephone services.
