Encore Software, a wholly owned subsidiary of Navarre Corporation (NASDAQ: NAVR), announced the launch of the 2009 edition of HOYLE online games, as well as the new www.hoylegaming.com Web site.
“HOYLE games’ popularity began over 200 years ago and although the rules have not changed, the way people enjoy games has,” said Cal Morrell, Encore Software President. “By combining classic games with new technology, we have taken the HOYLE brand to the next level.”
The new games include HOYLE Card Games 2009, HOYLE Casino Games 2009 and HOYLE Puzzle & Board Games 2009. All are available for Mac and Windows operating systems and now include free multi-player online play.
The releases have been completely rebuilt, a company news release states, and now offer additional games with the ability for players to customize each level with characters, music and “VIP Rewards” game bonuses.
Hoylegaming.com was also launched with forums and hosted tournaments, as well as leader boards and ongoing game updates. HOYLE is a trademark of the U.S. Playing Card Company, a division of Jarden Corp, which also makes most of the playing cards used in America today. These include including Bee, Bicycle, Aviator, Hoyle, Kem and Congress playing cards.
Encore, through licensing agreements, publishes a range of entertainment, education and productivity software titles such as HOYLE, Marine Aquarium, Family Tree Maker, 3D Home Architect, Advantage, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, as well as the Riverdeep brand, including The Print Shop, PrintMaster, ReaderRabbit and Mavis Beacon typing tutorials.
