Meru Networks® (MERU) Partners with the Carneros Inn to Ensure Complete Guest Satisfaction with Wi-Fi

A current leader in Wi-Fi networking, Meru Networks® announced yesterday that The Carneros Inn located in beautiful Napa, California, has increased guest satisfaction and decreased overall requests for help from its IT desk, minimizing on-site responses. This is thanks to replacing its previous wireless network with Wi-Fi from Meru. In addition, the network enabled a new wireless point-of-sales system for resort dining. The Inn has officially achieved full Wi-Fi coverage with regards to its cottages, larger resort homes, and additional onsite facilities by using Meru.

Featuring individual homes and cottages, as well as full meeting, dining, and spa facilities, The Carneros Inn desperately needed a solution that would enable seamless roaming for its guests, no matter where they were located on the property. Spread across 27 acres equidistant from Napa and Sonoma, the resort’s metal-roofed residences and wide array of additional facilities posed quite a challenge for other Wi-Fi vendors that The Carneros Inn IT evaluated. Up for the challenge, the Meru single-channel, virtual cell architecture eliminated cross-channel interference, resulting in a stronger signal and better overall performance as opposed to its competitors.

“The Meru architecture enables seamless roaming and ensures continued mobility, where others do not,” stated Robert Heiser, director of accounting and IT at The Carneros Inn. “With Meru, we can guarantee the same high-quality wireless Internet experience, whether our guests are in their rooms or working collaboratively in one of our banquet halls. The E(z)RF solution allows us to troubleshoot and fix global network or even guest-specific issues remotely. This is a huge benefit for a two-person IT department like ours.”

The Meru Wi-Fi also created a wireless point-of sales solution for the resort’s dining group. Using iPad Minis, Staff members are now able to place orders for guests wherever they might be on the grounds, including but not limited to the Hilltop pool area which has been noted to offer some of the resort’s best views of the surrounding wine country. Heiser commented that the system, “shaves tons of time off the amount of time it takes to ring in the order, get the drink and actually provide our guests with good customer service.”

Named among Travel + Leisure’s Top 25 most romantic get-aways, The Carneros Inn, a PlumpJack Group Resort, was created to provide a warm atmosphere, complementing its gorgeous surroundings of endless rows of grape vines, unspoiled farmland, and scenic apple orchards. The Carneros Inn’s design was inspired by the local countryside of which includes barns, cottages, and silos. The Carneros Inn pairs that inspiration with modern interiors in order to capture the region’s distinct charm as well as the needs of its sophisticated guests. The resort features 86 private guest cottages and suites as well as nightly private luxury home rentals, each are furnished with casual elegance and sit in a lush garden courtyard with an accompanying private deck. Dining options at The Carneros Inn include the architecturally stunning Hilltop Dining Room, FARM, and The Boon Fly Café, a roadhouse-style public eatery. In addition, Cottages, 24 stylish resort homes, and the Orchard Private Residence Club are all located on the grounds.

Made clear by most travelers, consistent Wi-Fi coverage and a working connection are prime concerns in hospitality. Surveys consistently come to the same conclusive answer; most guests will not stay at a hotel that has lacking Wi-Fi service. Meru’s patented single-channel architecture helps ensure uninterrupted service for both guests and staff with wireless coverage that is consistently high performing across the entire property with absolutely no black out zones. Meru’s Wi-Fi is innovatively designed to permit guests to roam the property with no worries of a dropped connection, making it perfect for streaming a video or television shows.

“The Carneros Inn is a world-class personal and business resort destination with the continued satisfaction of its guests as its most critical metric,” stated Srinath Sarang, co-founder and general manager of the hospitality and entertainment business unit at Meru. “We are honored that we were able to help the resort measurably increase guest satisfaction while also increasing operational efficiency. The best thing we can hear is that the Wi-Fi network enabled repeat business for the resort with a clear return on investment, and the team at The Carneros Inn tells us that is indeed the case.”
