Extreme Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) provides Ethernet networking solutions for enterprise and service providers operating in more than 50 countries. The company today announced an agreement with Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a global provider of IP performance test systems, in which the two companies will work together to integrate their products to boost post-deployment service verification.
The arrangement calls for the integration of Extreme Networks’ Ethernet switch platforms and the ExtremeXOS modular operating system with Ixia’s IxRave Converged Service Verification Solution.
The companies believe the combination of features of all systems involved will benefit enterprise users with visibility and insight created by automated network service verification, validation, and active troubleshooting. Additionally, the technologies will offer observation of infrastructure readiness for traffic demands stemming from data, voice and video communication.
“Working with Ixia to further the intelligence of the network with our scalable Ethernet switching platforms brings greater value to customers who desire real-time insight into the performance of their mission-critical network services,” Paul Hooper, chief marketing officer for Extreme Networks stated in the press release. “Combining the IxRave service verification system with ExtremeXOS, the industry’s first modular and extensible OS for carriers and enterprises, is an exciting development and makes for an ideal way to build more valuable, reliable and responsive IP networks.”
The two companies are working side by side to deliver IxRave software endpoints available in all Extreme Networks Ethernet switches, which together will allow for faster, more accurate network problem resolution for service providers.
“The combination of Ixia technology with Extreme Networks’ family of devices will be a major boon to service providers,” Anupam Sahai, vice president of marketing for Ixia stated. “Truck rolls will be vastly reduced and technicians will no longer need to dive into the bowels of their network. Service provider’s support staff will quickly and accurately diagnose problems down to the device, port and network.”
