CollabRx announced earlier today the appointment of Clifford Baron, PhD to the role of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Previously, Baron held a position with Accelrys, a $160M+ global software provider serving biotechnology, pharmaceutical, chemical, and materials corporations.
With a remarkable track record leading product and go to market efforts, Baron has worked for a number of prominent life science companies. Most recently, he held the roles of Director of Biology Product Marketing, Director of Business Development and Director of Professional Services at Accelrys, Inc. In addition, he founded Lexigraphix, LLC, a strategy consultancy serving biotechnology startups with an innovative web-based system to analyze intellectual property assets. Prior to that, Clifford was Senior Director of Global Solutions for Applied Biosystems, Inc., of which is now apart of Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher. It was there that he led software product management and coordinated the Applied Biosystems’ collaboration with Celera, now apart of Quest Diagnostics, Inc. He was also Director of Product Management at Pangea Systems / Doubletwist, a pioneering bioinformatics company, and Vice President of Product Development, Product Director and Manager of Technical Products and Information Services for Abacus Concepts, a statistical software company acquired by SAS Corp.
Baron earned a BS in Biology from the University of Washington, and holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
