Castle Brands Inc. (ROX) Demands Quality

Castle Brands Inc. is a small public company that thinks big. Located in New York City, they are a developer and marketer of premium brand spirits. They trade on the American Stock Exchange as part of the Beverages-Wineries and Distillers sector. They have a market capitalization of 17.1M and four growing categories of spirits. Their aim is to give consumers first-class quality in all their spirit lines.

Castle Brands’ focus is in developing their vodka, rum, whiskey, and liqueur lines. They see their growth coming from effectively promoting these four core products. However, they also seek to add to this product base by making acquisitions, having agency relationships, and engaging in new product development. Their products include Boru Vodka, Gosling’s Rum, Clontarf Irish Whiskey, and Celtic Crossing Liqueur.

Their strategy is in positioning their brands in high-end segments of the top internationally recognized spirits categories. Their awards, among others received by the company, include a Gold Medal for Gosling’s Old Rum at the International Rum Festival, and a Gold Medal for Clontarf Single Malt at the World Beverage Competition. Castle Brands also furthers their business goals through their partnering relationship with Gosling’s Export (Bermuda) Limited. Castle Brands Inc. owns 60% of Gosling-Castle Partners.

Mark Andrews, Chairman of the Board of Castle Brands, founded the company in 1998. In 1980, he founded the oil and gas exploration firm American Exploration Company. He was responsible for seeing that company go public in 1983.

April of this year saw Castle Brands celebrate their 10th Anniversary. They released ten Knappogue Castle Whiskey “Castle Collection” cases to recognize this event, and are continually exploring marketing channels worldwide to bring their premium-quality spirit beverages to discerning customers.
