Capstone Turbine Corp. (CPST) Rakes in Purchase Orders of Microturbine Energy Systems

The clean technology market is not only making technological advances at considerable rates, but is growing just as quickly. Crossing international lines, the demand for reliable power generation solutions to reduce energy costs and protect the planet is gaining momentum.

Capstone Turbine Corp. (Nasdaq: CPST) has grown to become one of the world’s leading clean technology manufacturers of microturbine energy systems. The company has already shipped more than 4,000 Capstone MicroTurbine systems worldwide, and today announced it has received an order for 10 megawatts of C1000 systems. For the C1000 system alone, this represents 26 orders for the unit, or 24.6 megawatts, exceeding management’s sales expectations.

“We are extremely pleased with the early market adoption of both the C200 and C1000 products. We continue to focus attention on reaching our internal cost and margin targets. In addition, we are working to improve our inventory turns to lower our working capital requirements as we ramp up the business,” Darren Jamison, Capstone Turbine’s president and CEO stated in the press release.

To put it into perspective, every C1000 Capstone MicroTurbine solution is equivalent to removing approximately 700 U.S. passenger vehicles from roads. It’s also the equivalent of planting 730 acres of pine and fir forest as part of a carbon-capture program. The company is eager to get these power savers off the road and anticipates delivering its first commercial C1000 Series product in January 2009.
