AMCON Distribution Co. (DIT) Acquires New Stores in Arkansas’ Northwest

AMCON Distributing Company and its wholly-owned subsidiaries moved to consolidate in the Northwest Arkansas wholesale distribution market by the acquisition of Discount Distributors from Harps Food Stores Inc.

AMCON CEO Christopher H. Atayan explained that the good infrastructure Discount Distributors (DD) has created would be a welcome addition to AMCON’s bottom line. Atayan stressed that the “excellent long-term relationships” developed by DD management would fit nicely with AMCON’s “service oriented culture.”

Sales on the assets for 2008 were approximately $59.8 million: Atayan beamed over this synergistic relationships’ inevitable success, saying “Our reliable service and expanded product offerings enhance the range of their profit making opportunities.”

AMCON is primarily one of the Midwest’s larger wholesale distributors, handling all manner of consumer products, from tobacco products and foods, to health and beauty or automotive products.

AMCON’s industry leading floor designs and store layouts, showcased by some of its retail and health food stores in the Midwest and Florida, like Chamberlin’s Market & Cafe and Akins Natural Foods Market, make a wonderful supplement to AMCON’s warehousing and distribution architecture. With exceptional order handling facilities, AMCON is able to maintain an industry leading fill rate while providing first-class, in-house customer service.

The new acquisition from Harps Food Stores Inc. will be financed through existing credit facilities and constitute a sixth unit to its system based in Springdale Arkansas.
