GreeneStone Healthcare Corp. (GRST) Secures New Clinic and Hires VP, Aftercare & Outpatient Services

GreeneStone Healthcare Corp., provider of Executive Healthcare services and operator of several mental health clinics, today announced the expansion of its Addiction Treatment service. The Company has secured a facility in Toronto’s upscale Yorkville neighbourhood. GreeneStone has announced that it has hired Andrew Galloway as Vice President, Aftercare & Outpatient Services. Mr. Galloway is an addiction councilor in Toronto, Ontario and is a frequently used interventionist on the television program, Intervention Canada.

In 2011 – when Mr. Galloway played a major role in the successful launch of the company’s addiction treatment centre in Bala, Ontario – GreeneStone and Mr. Galloway were both in the process of setting up an intensive outpatient and aftercare program in Toronto. “It became increasingly more desirable by both GreenStone and Mr. Galloway to create only one program together,” explained Shawn Leon, CEO of GreeneStone. A standalone clinic, the Yorkville facility will work in conjunction with multiple treatment centres in North America and operate independently from GreeneStone’s inpatient treatment centre in Bala, Ontario.

GreeneStone is joining a growing chorus of public and private companies working in the mental health field. The Company has recognized the need in Canada for highly focused mental health services, especially for illnesses that are not covered by Canada’s universal healthcare systems, at its outset. Indeed, only one-third of Canadians who need mental health services actually receive them. Further, one in five people with a mental disorder also has a substance abuse problem.

Centralizing its facilities in Toronto allows the Company to service a large, local population within a geographic area containing many of the types of companies for which GreeneStone’s services are desperately needed. The GTA hosts a large population of white collar and executive workers by virtue of its status as Canadian banking headquarters and home to the third most IT companies in North America. Mr. Leon highlighted the implications: “As the rapid take-up at GreeneStone’s initial clinics has shown, the specialized services required by this cohort of executives are not currently being supplied in an effective, time sensitive, evidence-based manner by either the healthcare system or the market.” As well as its centralized location, Toronto features a constant flux of international business travellers that represent a significant marketing opportunity. Mr. Leon stated: “The need for services in addiction and mental health in Canada is enormous, and the movement to support these needs is only beginning to get underway. GreeneStone is at the forefront. We are bringing on new people and rapidly expanding our ability to provide services to our core addiction and executive care areas of focus.”
