TeleCommunication Systems (TSYS) and U.S. Cellular Extend Licensing Agreement

TeleCommunication Systems Inc., a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today announced that the nation’s sixth-largest full-service wireless carrier U.S. Cellular (www.uscellular.com) has extended its agreement to offer “Your Navigator,” powered by TCS.

The two-year contract is a Software License Agreement for TCS to provide leading Location-Based Services (LBS) application Your Navigator through U.S. Cellular’s feature phones. Your Navigation transforms any GPS-enabled mobile phone into a personal navigation device by providing real-time, turn-by-turn visual and audio directions to the user. Your Navigator also offers access to business listings and directories, entertainment information, event venues, hotels, traffic and weather information and more.

“We know that our customers are busy and on-the-go, and we love having their backs with helpful applications like Your Navigator,” Joe Settimi, senior director of data strategy and services for U.S. Cellular stated in the press release. “Thanks to the partnership with TCS, we continue to meet our customers’ needs by placing user-friendly navigational tools right at their fingertips.”

Steve Petilli, vice president of TCS’ navigation and telematics group, said the extension of the service through U.S. Cellular will allow for enhanced and innovative opportunities for Your Navigator.

“Our years of service through U.S. Cellular contribute to our growing experience base as a leading provider of location-based services to millions of wireless subscribers,” Petilli stated in the press release. “Throughout this two-year extension, we’ll continue to innovate and expand Your Navigator’s features and options, offering the very best ‘must have’ services for U.S. Cellular’s customers.”
