Americas Wind up 16.3 Percent

Americas Wind Energy Corporation announced several new wind turbine orders today, pushing shares up 16.3 percent late in the afternoon to 63 cents a share.

According to a statement from the company, the sale was originally passed earlier in July, when Iowa-based Waverly Light and Power approached Americas Wind about purchasing a pair of wind turbines. In response, Americas Wind sold the alternative energy company two of its AWE54-900 kW wind turbines for $3.4 million.

“We searched to find extremely durable units featuring direct drive technology new to this country,” Glenn Cannon, the general manager of Waverly Light and Power, said back in July. “We’re excited about pioneering this technology in the Midwest and the United States.”

Although the news was originally released in July, Americas Wind only just recently released the express written consent of Waverly to pass this news through its corporate channels. Despite the age of the news, it still piqued investor interest, as evidenced by the 16.3 share increase.

Americas Wind is a wind turbine manufacturer that specializes in the North American market. The company is dedicated to helping bring cleaner wind-based energy to the entirety of North America by selling quality, low-maintenance wind turbines to rural and outlying suburban areas.
