Tetra Tech, Inc. (TTEK) announced that the U.S. Army has officially awarded the company an additional five year, $218 million contract. This contract extension will formally be used to transition the Rocky Mountain Arsenal into the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge that will be overseen by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. RMA is a 27-square-mile former chemical weapons facility 10 miles northeast of Denver, Colorado that will become a national Wildlife Refuge once Tetra commences land cleanup.
Tetra Tech has been responsible for Rocky Mountain Arsenal’s program management, hazardous waste landfill design, construction oversight, public involvement, regulatory support, and other technical services since 1997.
Over the past 10 years, this cleanup program has received a plethora of recognition for the company’s health and safety excellence. The site achieved Star status under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program for excellent health and safety performance—the first environmental cleanup site so recognized by OSHA.
The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge will occupy more than 15,000 acres and will be the largest national wildlife refuge once the cleanup is complete. The refuge is currently home to more than 330 species of animals, including wild bison, deer, coyotes, prairie dogs, bald eagles, and burrowing owls.
