Airspan (AIRN) Wins Another Comarch Communications Contract

Airspan Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:AIRN), a Florida based supplier of broadband wireless access equipment, has once again been chosen by global IT business solutions provider Comarch for a high-speed WiMAX network, this time in the newly independent southern European nation of Montenegro. The WiMAX network is being deployed by Promonte, the largest mobile operator in Montenegro, and a subsidiary of Norwegian mobile telecommunications giant Telenor.

Airspan, a leading supplier of wireless solutions since 1992, has become an increasingly trusted partner with Telenor in wireless telecommunications projects. In September Airspan announced a multi-year contract with Telenor, to expand their national IP network across Norway.

The Montenegro WiMAX deployment will be country-wide, providing their growing and technology-hungry economy with high-quality IP services which businesses can easily link into by using subscriber terminals. Comarch’s VP of Telecommunications Piotr Piatosa said, “When Promonte decided to expand their mobile services portfolio to offer IP-based services, it became apparent that WiMAX technology would best suit their needs and even clearer that Airspan was the best choice to supply that solution.”

The Montenegro win is seen as further evidence of Airspan’s growing presence in Europe and its position as leader in providing the most diverse and robust WiMAX solutions. Airspan now has over 100 WiMAX deployments worldwide, and continues to grow. Last year the company was ranked #1 for IEEE802.16-2004 revenue, and has been selected for some of the world’s biggest mobile WiMAX deployments.

Airspan has always approached wireless technologies as more than just something to turn to in the absence of a wired solution. Wireless is increasingly attractive in its own right, allowing rapid and cost effective wide area coverage for ISP services and communication service providers. In addition to advanced wireless equipment, Airspan offers software tools for network management, network installation services, training and support.
