Leading online local media company Local Corporation announced it has signed an agreement with Microsoft to provide location-based local product data for search engine Bing.
Local Corporation’s Krillion shopping data platform is helping power Bing’s local product search results, including relevant retail locations, categories, and product availability data and details, as part of the agreement.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with Bing to provide relevant local product shopping information to millions of consumers,” said Local Corporation Chairman and CEO Heath Clarke. “Our dynamic local product data enhances the online shopping experience for consumers by providing them with valuable information about which retailers carry the products they are looking for.”
A study conducted by Local Corporation and the e-tailing group has found that consumers are relying more and more on non-store channels, like Internet search engines, to conduct research prior to making a purchase. The study additionally reported that 90 percent of shopping is still conducted via a trip to a brick-and-mortar store, but nearly half of consumers reportedly spend 50 percent or more of their shopping time on the Internet researching products.
Local Corp., a leading online media company, connects location-based businesses with more than a million online and mobile consumers each day through various innovative digital marketing products. For more information about Local Corporation, visit www.localcorporation.com.
