Hampton Roads Bankshares, Inc. (HMPR) Announces Appointment of Kevin Chase as Senior Vice President – Commercial Banking

Hampton Roads Bankshares, the holding company for The Bank of Hampton Roads (BHR) and Shore Bank, today announced the appointment of Kevin J. Chase as Senior Vice President – Commercial Banking, reporting to Richard Byme, President of the Richmond market, at BHR’s commercial banking team in Richmond. Chase holds over 35 years of experience in commercial real estate finance in the Richmond and surrounding areas.

He brings a proven track record, deep knowledge of real estate markets in our region, and decades of experience across all aspects of commercial real estate finance, including origination, underwriting, structuring, servicing and workouts,” said Douglas J. Glenn, President and CEO of Hampton Roads Bankshares and CEO of BHR.

Chase previously served as Senior Vice President and Commercial Real Estate Manager at Sun Trust Bank in Richmond. Prior to his position at Sun Trust, Chase held various positions with Genworth Financial and its predecessors, GE Financial Assurance and Life Insurance Company of Virginia, from 1993 to 2008. From 1974 to 1993, Chase worked for several commercial mortgage banking firms in Richmond, arranging financing for properties in central Virginia with correspondent life insurance companies and banks.

Chase obtained a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia. A Licensed Virginia Certified General Appraiser, Chase is also a member of the Richmond Real Estate Group and GRACRE (Greater Richmond Area Commercial Real Estate). Chase currently serves as a board member for William Byrd Community House and Virginia Supportive Housing.
