GreeneStone Healthcare marks its third month of operation at its Yorkville clinic with the news that its outpatient program is on track to open in August as planned. According to GreeneStone president Shawn Leon, “We have made excellent progress in the past three months. The Yorkville outpatient clinic is progressing on schedule and new staff at the Yorkville clinic have settled in.” The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a patient-centered holistic approach which includes a rotation of therapy, group process, and psycho-educational workshops delivered twice weekly over a three month period. The multi-disciplinary team is comprised of Addiction Therapists, a Stress-Management Therapist, a Registered Dietician, and a Clinical Psychologist.
In addition, the Yorkville clinic has started a Youth Group led by Kate Ruby-Sachs, M.S.W., R.S.W. Ms. Ruby-Sachs comes to GreeneStone Yorkville from New York City where she completed her Master’s degree in Social Work at Columbia University. She has worked professionally as an addictions therapist with adults, adolescents, and families in both individual and group therapy settings. A member of the Canadian Addiction Counsellor Certificate Federation and the National Association of Addiction Professionals, Kate is a welcome addition to our team.
Kate will also be instrumental in co-presenting parent and family psycho-educational workshops beginning next month. These one day programs will cover a broad range of topics including enabling, dishonesty, boundaries and healthy communication. This will allow the person’s support network (the family) to have increased confidence in their ability to participate in the recovery efforts in a helpful and healthy way.
GreeneStone previously announced the addition of new members to their medical team, as well as advanced clinical support with specialities in concurrent treatment and trauma. GreeneStone also reports that the Muskoka in-patient facility continues to grow its rate of intakes to near full capacity. Mr. Leon explains, “Muskoka is exceeding all expectations, and we are in a good position to use what we’ve created in Muskoka to support our work at the Yorkville clinic.”
